HG - Audience research

We used a focus group for our audience research using people aged between 16 and 25. This is the age range that our music genre fits into, and so we asked questions such as ' what kind of attire/costume would expect an indie band member to wear'. The results gave us that extra bit of confidence so that we knew what we were doing was desired in a indie music video and it will be what our audience will want to see, and will fit the conventions as much as possible.

The research we did gave us the information to change and adapt our ideas we had already to meet the demands of an indie music video, and give the audience what they would expect and want to see. One of the questions we asked was, ' would you expect to see an outdoor performance scene in a indie music video', the majority of the answers we received back were 'yes' unsurprisingly. This gave us the idea to do a busking scene, were Jamie T would be in his worst stage of the video, and busking on the street for money. This shows the downfall of his career and him hitting 'rock bottom', we originally had an idea like this but our research gave us more precise ideas that we could use to please our audience. Our research was mainly positive and so this gave us a good feel to the start our film, and felt that we will meet the targets/requirements of a indie music video.
